What ECGT Ready is

ECGT Ready is a self-assessment tool for environmental claims on e-commerce stores. It produces an indicative risk score and suggested rewrites under the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (EU 2024/825) and the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC) as amended.

What ECGT Ready is not

• The risk score does not guarantee that any regulator, court, or competitor will agree with our assessment.

Your responsibility

You remain solely responsible for the claims you publish on your store. The Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive and national implementing law put the duty on the trader, not on a software vendor. Use ECGT Ready as a checklist and a draft assistant. Pair it with qualified counsel for any claim that materially affects a purchase decision or that you intend to defend in writing to a regulator.

Limits of automated review

The scan engine uses a large language model. It can miss context, misunderstand local marketing copy, or flag a sentence that is in fact substantiated. Treat every flag as a starting point, not a verdict. Use the methodology page to understand how the score is built.

Currency of information

EU and national law moves. We update the methodology and the rule set as it does, but there is always a delay between a regulatory change and an updated rule. Cross-check anything that hinges on a recent decision.
